Donal Shamburg Obituary
Donal Gustenian Shamburg, 90 of Mt. Jackson, died peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Mr. Shamburg was born May 18, 1928, son of the late Luke Steiner and Grace Ann Lonas Shamburg.
Donal was devoted to his family, church and a lifetime of farming. He was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and West Shenandoah Ruritan Club.
Mr. Shamburg was preceded in death by his wife, June Selma Shamburg , April 22, 2010 whom he married December 31, 1954.
He is survived by four daughters, Connie Hirsh and husband Glenn, Carrie Kibler and husband Charles, Karen Cook and husband David and Alesia Foltz and husband Greg, all of Mt. Jackson; two sons, David Shamburg and Beverly Shamburg of Mt. Jackson; seven grandchildren, Jonathan and Justin Kibler, Adam and Ethan Hirsh, Lydia Scarborough and husband Patrick, Dallas Foltz, Donal Cook and a special nephew, Garland Lee Shamburg of Mt. Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Garland B. Shamburg.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church west of Mt. Jackson with the Rev. Darlene Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hirsh, Charles Kibler, Greg Foltz, David Cook, Garland Lee Shamburg, Leo "Buddy" Polk and Robert "Poss" Burner.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson.
Donal held many different offices in the church, including trustee and treasurer of the cemetery fund for over 50 years. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Hermon UMC Cemetery Fund, 3821 Orkney Grade, Mt. Jackson, Va. 22842.
