Edward DeCristofano Obituary

Edward Louis DeCristofano, 95, of Woodstock, passed away August 22, 2021.
He was born October 23, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Elia and Mary (Ratti) DeCristofano.
Ed served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as a motor machinist's mate, after which he worked as an electronics inspector with Brown Instrument Company. Ed met his soulmate, Ruth Boyer, during one of his vocal performances in Philadelphia, where she fell in love with his voice and gentle demeanor. They were married in June 1955 and were constant companions until Ruth passed away in May 2015.
After moving to central Pennsylvania, they worked together in his father-in-law's bookkeeping firm.
Barbershop singing was a constant source of joy in Ed's life. He was a member of many quartets and was an active participant in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). His love of singing enriched his life and the lives of his friends and family.
In addition to music, he found great solace in nature and gardening. As a lifelong learner and avid reader, he shared his appreciation of the natural world with those around him.
After retiring to Woodstock, Ed and Ruth became actively involved at Woodstock Rehab and Fitness. As some of the most enthusiastic senior members, they served as an inspiration to others who were encouraged by their dedication and caring attitude.
He was appreciated by many for his quiet, gentle, humble spirit. His unconditional acceptance of others and good-natured humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Ed is survived by their son, Mark DeCristofano of Newville, Pa; their daughter, Lynn Ellen and her husband Andrew McKee of Fort Valley, VA; grandchildren, Jenna McKee Bradley and her husband Ethan of Strasburg, VA, and Caleb McKee of Fort Valley, VA.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Response, Inc., PO Box 287, Woodstock, VA 22664, www.responseva.org/make-a-donation.
