Irving "Skeeter" Leon Getz

June 7, 1939 - March 23, 2022

Irving “Skeeter” Leon Getz, 82 of Maurertown passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in Winchester Medical Center. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Valley Pike Church of the Brethren. Reverend Jonathan Fletcher will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the church. Skeeter was born on June 7, 1939 and was the son of the late Garrett and Ethel Cook Getz. Skeeter was a graduate of Woodstock High School, Class of 1958. He worked for the Shenandoah County Public Schools for 50 years, served 2 terms as a school board member. He enjoyed farming, he loved his family, getting together for meals and holidays. He cherished his family with his whole heart, he loved his church and church family, and The Lord. He was preceded in death by, a grandson, Derek Getz and 2 brothers, Giles and Carroll Getz. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn; 2 sons, David and his wife, Ozlem and Roger and his wife, Michele; a daughter, Sheila Franklin; 3 grandchildren, Dilara, Austin, and Owen Getz and a sister, Lorretta Wymer.
