Joan Clem Burger

June 22, 1952 - May 3, 2022

Joan Clem Burger, age 69, of Mount Jackson, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the home of her son, Mike Clem. She gained her wings surrounded by her family. Joan was born June 22, 1952, in Woodstock, Virginia, a daughter of the late William "Bub" and Mary Clem. Preceded in death by her brothers Bill and Doug Clem. And sister Libby Clem. She is survived by a son, Mike Clem, a daughter, Stephanie "Pixie” Clem Runion, both of Mt. Jackson and 3 grandchildren, Christian Burhop, Hunter Runion and Kendall Clem. She is also survived by 1 brother Ronnie A. Clem Sr. 3 sisters Shirley A Fadeley, Bonnie Clem, adopted sister Peggy Clem Runion. 1 sister-in-law Trish Clem. A special cousin Frankie (Olivia) Heflin of Mo. She is survived by 8 nephews and 5 nieces. Many cousins. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson high school. She attended Shenandoah Conservatory of music in Winchester, Va. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Jackson moose lodge # 1403. Where she held the honor of senior regent of the women of the moose. She worked at the Woodstock hospital for years as a nurse aid, also at many nursing homes. Then she did private care for several years. She then switched to secretarial/ bill collector for HSI travel agency for 10 years. She retired from Creekside village after 25 years at Basye, Va. A memorial is scheduled at a later date. Friends and family can come by Mike and Pixies home. 745 Walker’s Chapel Lane. Family will receive friends from 2pm -3pm on May 15, 2022, at Woods Chapel New Market, VA. The service is at 3pm and Celebration of life will immediately follow in the social hall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dale Sine, Matthew Golladay, Hunter Runion, Phillip Neff, Ricky Pace and Pete Eaton.
