Madonna Linski Obituary

Madonna Spaulding Linski, 80, of Auburndale, FL and formerly of New Market, died June 30, 2018 at home. She was born December 1, 1937 in Corry, PA and was the daughter of the late Sherman and Theresa Phillips Spaulding.

On April 12, 1958, she married Thomas Edward Linski, in their hometown of Corry, PA. Together, Donna and Tom raised 4 children in several towns in northwestern PA, finally settling in Mayville, NY where they owned and operated Bentley's Supermarket. In 1977, the couple moved to New Market, VA where they owned and operated Midway Market. Donna was the bookkeeper for the stores and later worked as a teller at Suntrust Bank. Upon retirement, Donna and Tom began spending part of the year in Auburndale, FL and in 2014, moved there permanently. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakeland, FL.

Donna was an avid golfer, enjoying ladies and couples groups at The Shenvalee and The Hamptons. Her competitive spirit carried over into card and board games and in later years, bridge. Her talents were many. Donna was the consummate seamstress, crafter and artist and could "whip up a pie" on a moment's notice. She and Tom enjoyed traveling, especially cruises with family members. She will be remembered most as the always upbeat, fun-loving matriarch to her adoring family.

Donna was preceded in death by brothers, Rex Spaulding and Douglas Spaulding.

Surviving are a daughter, Chris and husband, Jerry Long of Apollo Beach, FL, sons, Tom and wife, Donna Linski of New Market, Jay and wife, Terry Linski of Wildwood, FL and Mark and wife Susie Linski of New Market; 9 grandchildren: Joshua Long, Amanda Moore, Nate Long, Katelyn Carpenter, Kyle Linski, Kelsey Linski, Carly Linski, Jaelyn Linski and Matthew Linski; 4 step grandchildren: Courtney Cave, Ryan Pugh, Samantha Pugh and Ian Pugh; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Eleanorah Pelc and Jonetta Middleton with whom she enjoyed weekly "sister days".

A funeral mass will be held 1pm, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Woodstock. Burial will immediately follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery on Headquarters Rd, Edinburg. The family will celebrate Donna's life and receive friends at 7pm, Saturday, July 14th at The Shenvalee, New Market.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center at give.moffitt.org.
