Maxine Lucas Obituary

Maxine Naomi Lucas, 90, of Stanley, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Maxine was born August 8, 1929 in Timberville, VA to the late Odus and Essie Good.
Maxine married Allen F. Lucas in September 1945. Together, they had three children followed by six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she and her husband, Allen, built a successful seeding and sodding business, Lucas Seeding and Sodding, and in their later years opened and operated A&M Market on Marksville Road in Stanley. A&M was not only a market, it was a gathering ground for family, friends and locals to commune and share stories, laughter and impart wisdom. Maxine's warm smile, kind words and laughter were a staple and main attraction of A&M. In addition to the family businesses, Maxine retired from the Luray Textile Factory where she made lifelong friends during her 30 years of service. You would frequently find her and her retired friends in Hardees any given morning reliving old times and catching up on current events over coffee and laughter.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allen F. Lucas; son, Allen Lucas, Jr.; great grandson, Luke Shahateet, and siblings, Joanne Rathe, Anna Mae Bailey, Jessie Good and Roy Carroll Good
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sue Roberts and Cindy Dawn Katz; sister, Frances Stroupe; six grandchildren, Lisa Lucas Procacina, Tammy Shaffer Danchanko, Lucas David Shaffer, Deanna Roberts Killian, April Good McCoy and Adam Good; and seven great grandchildren, Gabriel Danchanko, Lindsey Campbell, A.J. McCoy, Anna McCoy, Lukas Good, Brennan Good and Noah Lucas Procacina.
Maxine will be remembered for her fierce love for the Lord, her gentle soul, generous spirit and love and devotion to her family and friends.
Flowers can be sent to Dellinger/Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market Virginia. Private graveside rites will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray, VA on Friday, May 8 at 1:30 PM.
