May Stiles Artz Wilkins, 90, of Richmond, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Powhatan, VA. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 20, 2019 at Zion Christian Church, Maurertown, VA. Burial will follow in the Zion Christian Church Cemetery.
Stiles was born June 7, 1928 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ira Vine Artz. She was preceded in death by her husband Captain (USN) James Climent Wilkins, Jr. They met while attending the University of Mississippi. They lived in Pensacola, San Diego, Jacksonville, Virginia Beach, Kingstown, RI, Key West, Mclean, and Richmond. She volunteered with Navy Relief and Girl Scouts. She worked in the Capitol Hill office of Congressman Frank Wolfe. She also worked in real estate and at the Daughters of the American Revolution. She traveled to Europe many times and loved to drive the backroads of the Virginia countryside. She enjoyed collecting art, visiting museums, and writing editorials for the Richmond Times.
She is survived by 3 sons, Jim Wilkins (Elizabeth), Frank Wilkins (Tonie) and John Evans (Joanna); 4 daughters, Priscilla Evans, Lauren Hoffman, Susan Gunnell (Robert), and Pam Messner (Clint); 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
