She married Second Lieutenant Robert "Bob" E. McCord on June 7, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, following Bob's graduation from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point). She was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Mt. Jackson, VA and for many years a dedicated member of the altar guild.
Over the course of more than four decades, Nancy McCord performed countless hours of volunteer work in Basye and the Bryce Resort Community. Her unique pondside home at Bryce was once a farmhouse and she loved its spectacular views and delighted in the rich array of birds that visited daily.
