Curtis James Roy

Curtis James Roy, 59, of Mt. Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at his
home. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at My Church. Pastor
Tony Allen Bates will officiate. A burial will follow in Mt. Jackson Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Dellinger Funeral Home, Mt.
Jackson.
Curtis was born on July 26, 1964, in Homestead, Florida and was the son of the late Woodrow
Roy and is survived by his mother, Betty Sue Arbogast McGrew and Maury McGrew. Curtis was
a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. He graduated from James Wood High School in
Winchester, Virginia in 1982. He then attended James Madison University and graduated with
his bachelor's degree in education. He was a member of My Church in Woodstock, Virginia. He
also graduated from Victory Bible Institute and became an ordained minister. He enjoyed
teaching Bible classes, and his favorite lesson to teach was on healing. He pursued a dedicated
career with the Virginia Department of Transportation as an inspector, surveyor, and then a
contract administrator, before he retired with 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman,
hunter, and fisherman.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife Natalie Dellinger Roy of 35 years and son Zachary James
Roy (Hannah) of Mt. Jackson Va. and also by his sister, Candy Grim (Tom), sister, Cheryl
Kenney (John), sister, Betsy Sloan, sister, Becky Wilson (Anthony), and brother, Derrick Roy
(Qudsia), and his mother-in-law, Kathie Dellinger. He is also survived by many beloved nieces,
nephews, and extended family.
Curtis is preceded by his father, Woodrow Roy, his nephew Andrew Kenney, and his
father-in-law, Donald Dellinger.
Memorial contributions may be made in Curtis’s honor to Mt. Jackson Fire and Rescue.
