Denise Broy Obituary

On Saturday, May 16, 2010, our mother and "Mawmaw", surrounded by her family and friends, went home to be with her Lord. Denise was preceeded in death by father, John H. Pierce, brother ,

Donald K. Pierce and niece, Natalie A. Pierce. Surviving are parents, Stanley and Anna Lee Price of Woodstock, two sons, Derek Broy and wife, Dawn Broy of Edinburg and David "Spanky" Broy and wife, Heather Broy of Toms Brook, a daughter, Dena Smith and fiancée, Jason Smith of Front Royal, a brother Dick Pierce and wife, Annette Pierce of Timberville, a sister Susan Crider and husband, Aaron Crider of Edinburg and ten grandchildren, Katelynn Mantz, Jacob Broy, Zackary Broy, Hunter Smith, Madisyn Broy, Natalie Broy, Aubreigh Smith, Kody Smith, Mason Broy and Bradyn Broy.

Denise was a 1974 graduate from Central High School and a 1976 graduate from Triplett Business & Technical Institute. While still in high school, Denise began working as a cashier at Dalke's Community Theater until 1977 when she was hired as a part-time clerk in the Personnel Office at Lord Fairfax Community College. In 1979 Denise was hired as a full-time employee in the Printing Services Office where she later was promoted as a Supervisor for that department. Denise retired from LFCC in January 2009 after 30 years of employment. During her employment, she received the Positive Spirit Award and the VCCA Support Staff Showcase Award.

After battling diabetes and dialysis for many years, an angel appeared to her and offered to give her a kidney; which Denise gratefully accepted. Because of this heroic offering, Denise was able to spend many years of quality "mawmaw" time with her grandchildren. We will always be so grateful to you Christy, for giving our children the opportunity to enjoy many wonderful, event filled days with their grandmother. You are truly and Angel from God.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Shenandoah Community Fellowship in Woodstock, VA. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening at 7:00PM at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock, VA. Pallbearers will be Robert "Porky" Bowman, Aaron Crider, Brian Miller, Kermit Phillips, Jon Pierce and Rodney Warr. Honorary Pallbearers are the Ladies of the Red Hat Society. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Denise Broy Scholarship of Excellence Award at LFCC.
