Glenn Painter Obituary

Glenn "Jack" E. Painter, 80, of Woodstock, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Consulate Health Care of Woodstock.

He was born on May 16, 1929 in Toms Brook and was the son of the late Harry Franklin and Anna Coffman Painter. He was a graduate of Toms Brook High School. Before retiring in 1999, Jack spent his time farming and driving for R.F. Painter Paving Co. and Mowery Oil Co. He was a member of Toms Brook United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball and Washington Wizards basketball on television, and playing board and card games with his grandchildren. In the last years of his life, he was lovingly cared for by his caregivers, Pat Brill and Brenda Weaver.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy Bemis Painter; son Michael Painter and wife Patty of Strasburg; daughter Glenda Funk and husband Robert "Bobby" of Toms Brook; and daughter Holly Markley and husband Darrin "Toby" of Edinburg; six grandchildren, Alicia Bly and husband Jeff; Gretchen Brill and husband Keith; Brigette and Hunter Funk; Whitney and Tucker Markley, and great-granddaughter Karaline Brill; He was preceded in death by son Craig Bemis Painter; two brothers; and is survived by a sister and brother.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 5th at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock from 7 to 8:30 PM. The funeral will be at the same location on Thursday, May 6th at 1:00 PM conducted by Pastor Joe Klotz. Burial will follow at Toms Brook Cemetery. Following the service the family will gather for food and fellowship at Toms Brook United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Robert "Bobby" Funk, Hunter Funk, Darrin "Toby" Markley, Keith Brill, Jeff Bly and Willie Keeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Rhodes Jr., Robert Spiker Sr., Charles Hensley and Ken Hunter.

Memorial contributions may be made to Woodstock Rescue Squad, 132 W. Reservoir Road, Woodstock, Virginia 22664.
