Henry Lee Holler, 80, of Woodstock, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, 116 Lakeview Drive, Woodstock, Virginia. Pastor Hardy Lutz will officiate with Pastors John and Daniel Crisman assisting. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Mr. Holler was born July 4, 1929 in Edinburg, Virginia, the son of the late Grover M. Holler Sr. and Grace Sheetz Holler. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Eye Holler, son Michael Lee Holler, granddaughter Kathryn Miriah Dellinger, brother Oscar Holler and sisters Emma Miller, Frances Burch and Virginia Wetzel.
At an early age Mr. Holler began his career in the poultry industry, running a poultry plant in Edinburg, Virginia with his brothers Grover M. Holler Jr. and Cecil H. Holler. Later he became Secretary and Treasurer of Blue Ridge Poultry and Egg Company. After Blue Ridge was sold to Rocco Farm Foods in 1971, Mr. Holler began exporting poultry overseas, serving as General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing for Rocco. In 1985 Mr. Holler joined Rockingham Poultry and was named Vice President of Sales and Marketing. When Rockingham was sold to Wampler Foods, Mr. Holler continued his work as Vice President of Sales and Marketing until being named Senior Sales Associate, a position he held until retirement in 1998.
After retirement Mr. Holler continued his involvement with the poultry industry at the national and international level by serving as Chairman of the Board of the United States of America Poultry & Egg Export Council's International Poultry Development Program.
Mr. Holler served as Past President of the Virginia Poultry Association, Past President and Life Time Member of the U. S. Poultry and Egg Export Council, Past Chairman of the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for the U. S. Department of Agricultural Service, Washington, D. C. He was recognized as a Broiler Industry Pioneer by the National Chicken Council in 2004.
Within his community, Mr. Holler has served as past chairman and member of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors, Board Member of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for 13 years and most recently was serving as a member of the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow and member of the New Market Rotary Club.
Surviving are his wife of over 21 years, Bobbie Mauck Holler; daughter and son-in-law Lynette and Allan George of Woodstock; granddaughter and husband Sarah and Ed Bickel, great granddaughter Quinn and great-grandson Ari of Maurertown; grandson and wife, Craig and Amanda George, and great-granddaughter Lucy of Charlotte, North Carolina; step-son and wife David and Cheryl Dellinger, grandson Mathew of Woodstock: step-son and wife Wesley and Melody Dellinger, and grandson Troy of Broadway, Virginia.; and brothers Cecil H. Holler and Grover M. Holler, Jr. of Edinburg.
Pallbearers will be members of the New Market Rotary Club. Honorary pallbearers will be William Streett, Warren French, John Jackson, Paul Greene, Harold Lutz, Lawrence Eye and Charles Eye.
The family will receive friends at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday, May 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
