Paul William Cook Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Paul William Cook went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Sentara RMH at the age of 94. The funeral will be held Wednesday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Brethren Church. Pastors Larry Cook, Ron Stiefel and Perry Waters will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Mr. Cook was born April 6, 1921, son of the late Bernie D. and Edith Racey Cook. He was born and raised in St. Luke and later resided in Woodstock. He retired from the Virginia State Highway Department, was a former police officer for Edinburg and a lifetime farmer. Paul’s greatest joy was playing his mandolin and banjo at senior citizens centers, nursing homes and other civic functions in the community. Paul was in the Bluegrass bands, Mountain Melodies, Glory Road and Joyful Noise Makers for many years. It was a gift from God that brought joy to others. He was a member of Cedar Creek Christian Church and preceded in death by his wife, Betty Katherine Kibler Cook and seven brothers and sisters. Paul is survived by a son, Roger L. Cook and wife Sharon of Woodstock; three daughters, Brenda Weaver and husband Charlie of Woodstock, Barbara Fadley and husband James of Woodstock and Judy Hodson and husband Russell of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Seth Fadley, Tara Fadeley and Holly Wymer; three great grandchildren, Cody Fadeley, Ian Wymer and Braden Wymer and two great great grandchildren, Jordan and McKinlyn. Pallbearers will be Gerald Jackson, Dennis Scott, Carson Shipp, Jay Collett, Robert Taylor and Clay Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Houston, Jerry Cook and Jim Kibler. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.
